For Property Directors and Chief Operating Officers

When it’s like herding cats to get support from your senior executive team to your proposed workplace consolidation

You’re consolidating your workplace footprint but can’t get agreement from your executive team to your proposed new workplace concept.

They want a consolidated office footprint that supports high performance, workplace culture and engagement. But they can’t seem to agree what this looks like.

And with a lease deadline looming, you’re on the line.

... that's when you want an agreed workspace concept without delays, hassles and sudden course corrections

Introducing the Consolidated Connection Method™️

In today’s world of hybrid work, many executives are finding it challenging to get agreement to their workplace concept.

The great news is that you can achieve buy-in and a speedy sign-off when you employ the right process.

The Consolidated Connection Method™️ gives you the process that establishes a sellable workplace concept, compels buy-in at the highest levels and ultimately speeds up executive support.

What’s different about the Consolidated Connection Method™️?

Most workplace concepts start by appointing a design agency and generating test fits.

But once the workplace concept is presented it can be hard to get support around the executive table.

This situation has been further complicated by post-COVID ways of working, as executives have strong and varied views about what is best for their team and the company.

I created the Consolidated Connection Method™️ to solve this problem.

It is a sure-fire process that achieves executive support for your high-performing hybrid workplace concept in the shortest possible amount of time.

Five elements to my secret sauce

There are five elements to the secret sauce in the Consolidated Connection Method™️:

It is people-centred and needs-driven, rather than design-led.  A discovery process surfaces your unique Hybrid Workplace Culture Insights, drawing on my expertise as a published hybrid Workplace Strategy expert.

It is open-minded about your eventual design. We facilitate buy-in through providing co-creative experiences and meaningful engagement. This open-minded approach facilitates maximum support and commitment. Designers are not always comfortable to handle the complex conversations that result, whereas this is one of my specialties.

Executive support is achieved through information and influence. Rather than railroading executives, we gain lasting support by providing a thorough picture and genuine opportunities to affect the outcome. Executives find the process refreshingly participative, rather than being a ‘tick the box’ exercise or Death by PowerPoint.

Skilful facilitation ensures productive strategy meetings. I draw on my mediation training, facilitation skills, Management Consulting experience and expertise in the Applied Science of Communication to create productive, enjoyable meetings that lead to clear decisions. Executives feel they are in safe hands and that their time isn’t wasted.

I partner with designers to deliver an expertly-informed, high-performing workplace concept. Designers support the Workplace Strategy by bringing it to life with test fits, so that executive teams get an idea of what it’s like to live in their connected, engaged and high-performing hybrid workplace.

How the Consolidated Connection Method™️ works

Two core phases are delivered over 10 to 12 weeks through a combination of on-site and virtual activities.

ConneXploration™️

This isn’t another exploration phase. Yes, it incorporates an occupancy study, workforce discovery activities and insight workshops. But it’s what under the hood that distinguishes this process – quality data and insights, expert hybrid workplace knowledge, skilful facilitation and the benefit of previous post-occupancy evaluations.

Strategy & Alignment

The Strategy & Alignment phase manages the risk that your workplace concept could fail, by giving your senior executive team ultimate confidence. This phase occurs alongside ConneXploration™️ and has five main results:

🟢 Understand business objectives 🟢 Clarify your future state 🟢 Align decision-makers around a single workplace concept 🟢 Integrate with design 🟢 Deliver your Workplace Strategy, including design requirements and test fits

What people are saying

What’s included

Business review: Through artefacts and meetings with key stakeholders I understand the organisation’s vision, mission, and goals and future of work considerations

Occupancy study: This is a review of your space and how people use it across an average week, via in-person walkthroughs or your sensor technology

Workforce discovery: I understand the motivations, preferences and teamwork patterns that shape workspace behaviour. These engaging experiences facilitate alignment and buy-in with the future workplace.

Workspace analytics: My work informs your space requirements by anticipating the behaviours of your building occupants

Vision setting: I work with your executive team to clarify your future state – the best parameters for your workspace design and your ways of working

Leadership alignment: I facilitate clear understanding, buy-in and decision-making by your executive team

Workplace Strategy and design requirements: I provide your Architecture or Interior Design provider with principles and design requirements that will deliver your high-performing hybrid workplace

I attend your offices from Wellington, New Zealand and travel can be arranged easily to Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland.

Who the Consolidated Connection Method™️ is not for

Consolidated Connection Method™️ may not be right for your organisation in any of the following circumstances:

If your future workplace has narrow parameters with regards to interior design. For example, if there is limited opportunity to adjust workplace levers such as workstation ratio, range, ratio and function of work settings, and the location and availability of communal areas.

If your senior leadership team does not want your process to engage with staff at this time. If discussions are still in the preliminary stages, the full Consolidated Connection Method™️ may not be quite what you need yet.

If your strategic direction is not organised around high performance. For example, if your organisation is still in the process of establishing clear performance measures, or receives perpetual funding on the basis of a mandate rather than performance.
